Water and Sanitation

The goal of the Water and Sanitation Programme is to provide safe drinking water to rural areas and develop social entrepreneurs using social enterprise model. Along with supply of treated water, TPCDT recognizes the need for better sanitation practices hence, awareness programmes are organized in the villages.
In response to the pressing concern of providing safe drinking water to rural areas, TPCDT supports the setting up of community based Reverse Osmosis (RO) water purification plants in villages wherein, safe drinking water is provided to them at a nominal cost. TPCDT provides financial, technical and infrastructure support for setting up of RO water purification plant for rural areas.
TPCDT intends to demonstrate a sustainable business model around water purification plants in collaboration with various stakeholders for providing pathogen-free, fluoride-free and safe drinking water in the affected villages.
The waste water from the RO is recycled and is then supplied to the school toilets for cleaner sanitation and hygiene.

TPCDT also contributed to the Clean Ganga project of the Government of India by providing technical assistance in the cleaning of the river water.
